Thirteen Travel Tips for Blondie

I haven't been on a plane since I was 15. I am sure travel has changed a lot since then. Y'all travel way more than I do. Help a Blondie out, please!?!

{This isn't my plane but I wish it was.
It's PINK!}

LOVE the pink plane... and dang blogger doesn't give me an update on your blog... ropl eyes...

13 things eh?
Here's what I've got

1 no liquids
2 no pastes
3 no gels
4 please don't wear a warm up suit to look like a typical tourist
5 carry a spare pair of unmentionables in your carry on stuff plus whatever other things you *really* can't live with out since luggage gets lost/misdirected/misplaced at an astonishing rate.
6 aisle seat - upside - more stretch down side.. have to get up everytime your seat mates do
7 bring your own food - unless you are any where but economy - food is almost non existant
8 check your bags - in spite of #5 because it's just less stress when going through unfamiliar airports or even just sitting around
9 I always enjoy sitting in an airport bar if there is time and people watching and striking up conversations.
10 I try not to spend money in airports because everything is exhorbitant
11 bring at least two good books to read
12 mP3 player
13 sit back relax and let the system take care of you.

1. you can bring up to 3 oz size bottles of lotion, cleanser etc but they must be enclosed in a zip loc bag and removed from carry on to be scanned (just lay it in the bin with your purse etc)

2. carry granola bars, long lasting energy, compact size.

3. They still charge for drinks but you can get glasses of water for free. I always get a bottle or two of vitamin water once I am through security.

4. you are allowed one carry on and one personal item. I travel with the geek bag and a fanny pack.

5. I also travel with a scott vest personal lan jacket (vest when sleeveless) cuz it has 14 million zippered pockets. I carry my phone, pda, DS, etc in that. It is neither a personal item nor carry on and it holds lots of stuff :-)

6. put keys, change etc in your purse or fanny pack to get scanned so you don't buzz the metal detector.

7. get there early. It is much better to breeze through security and sit in a comfortable chair than to stand in line.

8. look for seats near posts or columns if you need to plug your lappie in at the airport. some outlets on walls as well.

9. carry a couple days of meds with you in case luggage gets lost.

10. 1/2 a xanax or other such will take the edge off if you need it.

11. Some use OTC sleeping aids cuz it isn't always easy to sleep on a plane. Personally, the time of day I have to travel, it isn't a problem. I am tired enough. This can also work if lacking items in number 10.

12. be mindful of your bags. I have personally never had a problem but I have heard of people having things swiped from them in the bathroom while they are sitting and can't give chase :-)

13. relax, have fun, enjoy the scenery. I will be waiting for you at the bottom of the escalator with open arms. *muah*

Firstly, though I know you prefer Pink, I prefer Air Tranica :-)

Now for some travel tips:
1. 3-1-1 (3 oz or less, 1 ziplock back ,1 qt. size) - all liquids go together and keep them handy to take out of the luggage to put in the basket for X-Ray
2. No laces - slip off shoes - much faster to put the through X-Ray
3. No aviation jokes - TSA does have a sense of humor, just don't make jokes about stuff that is sensitive in a airport (re: Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents, "Bomb-Bomb-Bomb-Bomb-Bomb-a-Bomb-Bomb!" is not good!)
4. Keep your iPod and Cell phone easily accessible to slip onto X-Ray
5. Find out if they have coffee/booze/water/etc. inside - if not drink it down before approaching TSA
6. Don't forget driver's license or passport!
7. They say 2 be there 2 hours ahead to get through TSA... This is necessary in places like La Guardia or O'hare or LAX... an hour is usually okay in smaller places (Cedar Rapids 20 minutes will do it ;-)
8. Check as few bags as possible - travel light
9. Keep your laptop easily accessible - it has to come out of your luggage and go through X-Ray separately.
10. Bring a book and charge your iPod - bring your charger and keep it accessible in case you get stuck. Download a good movie too in case they show you March of the Penguins again and again and again... LMAO!!!
11. take the window, it's beautiful out there! unless you get anxious or have a weak bladder... "B" is never a good seat unless there are young twin Sweedish girls on either side of you (and that NEVER happens!!)
12. You'll know soon enough if the person next to you wants to talk to you or not... again, charge iPod just in case they don't or you don't - LOL!!!
13. The wine costs $5 and is small and usually mediocre - ask for a gin and tonic instead if you're gonna pay on the plane or better yet, get loaded prior to boarding (but after TSA!) ;-)

14. BONUS! - NEVER travel with my friend Frank unless you help him pack - he frickin' packs like a million bags of crap (see #8 - travel light - for mobility and sanity!)
