Corn Flakes?
In the early part of this century, John Harvey Kellogg gained a reputation both as a nutritionist and a sexual adviser. The foods that Kellogg created (including the now-famous corn flakes) were designed to promote health and decrease interest in sex.
Mr. Kellogg thought sex was the ultimate abomination and remained celibate even in marriage. Masturbation was the worst sin imaginable to him. He believed it led to leprosy, tuberculosis, heart disease, epilepsy, dimness of vision, insanity, idiocy, and death. He also preached that masturbation led to bashfulness in some people, unnatural boldness in others, a fondness for spicy foods, round shoulders, and acne. That’s quite a list!
As we all know now, there are most definitely foods that promote health, but none in particular that decrease interest in sex or masturbation. So, you can eat all the corn flakes you want, and have good, safe sex!

T-13:
- I need 4 stars on my Starbucks card to get a free drink.
- The postcard from my last 15 stars free drink is under a magnet on my fridge. {I should really put that in my bag}
- I have been using my macbook almost exclusively since about March 7 when Rudy gave it to me. I LOVE it! {ty, darlin!}
- I hope my cute little pink netbook doesn't stop working when I need it because I have been neglecting it. ;-)
- I have been sick for almost two weeks. Enough, already!
- So Cal is having a heatwave after months of super cold. My outside thermometer says 80° at the moment. I don't really think it is that warm though. *shrugs*
- It has been 10 Days, 5 Hours and 34 Minutes since I last saw Rudy walking down the hallway in Denver International to get to his own flight. :-(
- I have actually gone over 36 hours without coffee this week. Are you in shock?
- Have I mentioned I am tired of being sick? Well, if not, I am. bleh!
- There is still an amazing echo in here.
- I need a drink but feel too blah to have one. What is THAT about?
- Is it weekend yet?
- Is anybody out there?

Day 5
As my FB status stated early on I am either suffering from a severe lack of coffee or oxygen or both. Not a lot going on for me today other than chilling out, napping and reading.
When Rudy got out of class we headed over to Panera to pick up some broccoli cheese soup and bread bowls to eat in our room later on when we were hungry. More napping and relaxing was the tone of our evening.
Tomorrow will be more of the same unless I feel incredibly better and by better I mean less tired and needing oxygen and more feeling like getting out and doing something. Although I do want to get outside and take some photos of the prairie dogs and perhaps I will see the bunnies we saw the other day as well as the duck couple. And it has been perhaps too long since I have had a trip to starbucks. ;-) {Don't you judge me. tee hee!} There is also drinks at BJ's after class to meet with people from the local office.
See ya tomorrow.
love,
~ b

Thursday Thirteen.
but can't seem to find the energy
{or motivation} to do.
- put away the last of the Christmas things {there isn't much left}
- fix the wind-chimes {at least they are in the garage since the kid took them down for me last night due to the high winds and the ridiculous amount of noise they were making.}
- grind coffee to make a fresh pot {that needs to happen asap - the lack of fresh coffee could be contributing to my slackassery}
- hem my jeans {two pair to be exact. Plus there is a stack of mending that also needs doing.}
- clean through the boxes {yes, the ones in the garage. The ones that still hold all the crap I can't find}
- juice the last of the pomegranates {juiced a bunch this past weekend and made jelly. Really seriously good jelly.}
- edit some photos {I have a lot backed up but have allowed someone's comment a while back to stifle my creative energy}
- write {I read an old bloggy recently. It was interesting. I am not bad in the writing department and need to get back to it}
- take some photos {but if I take photos then I need to edit them. See #7}
- deconstruct and recycle packing boxes {there are a lot of empties in the garage. I need a bigger recycling container I think. Or to break them down more often. Or something}
- organize the cupboards in the garage {they are a jumble after the holidays due to moving things around to access other dishes}
- make a page on The Knot {I should have done this a long time ago but didn't. Rudy and I talked about it briefly last night. Once I get started it should be fun. Problem is getting started. Which you know from the title is the subject of this 13.}
- go to the grocery {I hate shopping. Of any kind. I am probably going to put it off until tomorrow morning. That should send my Friday into a lovely fit of confusion.}

Little Friday.
This isn't my story but I found it to be quite endearing and thought I would share.
A very good friend of mine that used to live in our neighborhood and is happily married used to take time out once a week with his wife. We all had the same demands on our time, work, house, kids etc. Frank is a person who lives life to the fullest always and lives in the moment, I truly admire him, he is a real "life of the party" kind of guy.So what are you going to do for yourself today to welcome the weekend a little early?
He would make sure to help his W get the kids fed and to bed early or at least on time on Thursday nights. Once the kids were down, they would have a late dinner that he fixed for just the two of them. They would have a bottle of wine and unwind and talk to each other uninterrupted for a couple of hours at least once a week. They also put on music that took them to another place even though they never left the house. Sometimes they would talk, sometimes they would laugh, sometimes they would dance, sometimes they would just sit and listen to the music......together. Frank always said he and his wife liked to welcome the weekend a little early and thus the name "Little Friday."
Frank shared this practice with me a number of years ago and my W and I did this but did not quite grab the concept of maintaining the connection with each other. We made it more about a night to socialize during the week which is not bad but the point was to have uninterrupted "quality" time with your spouse.
I have now made it the one day a week I give to myself, a day to recognize that life is good and it is good to be alive. For me sometimes I want to be alone, sometimes I want to have friends over, doesn't matter it is my day to be happy no matter what! A day of affirmation if you will. I like to put on music that takes me to a different place, for me I prefer to go to the Caribbean so I tend to lean towards that music that reminds me of being on vacation.
Happy Little Friday, my dears!
*hugs*

A Conversation in 13 Lines
- Me: Is this the only way Iced VIA comes?
- Starbucks Girl: Yes it is.
- Starbucks Girl: Why do you ask?
- Starbucks Girl: Do you like it really sweet?
- Me: Oh dear no. I like my iced coffee with no sweet at all.
- Starbucks Girl: Yeah, me too.
- Starbucks Girl: You can take the regular VIA and make it iced though.
- Me: Seriously?
- Me: I didn't know it would dissolve properly in the non hot water.
- Starbucks Girl: Yes, yes it will.
- Starbucks Girl: I do it all the time.
- Me: --> Starbucks Girl *fist bump*
- Me: Thanks so much.

No Starbucks Iced VIA for this Blondie. That is for certain.
